French resort Club Med, known for its family-friendly beach and ski holidays, will open its first resort set in a sculpture park in Guilin in southern China in May.

The 46ha Club Med Guilin will be situated within the 600ha Yuzi Paradise Sculpture Park, home to over 100 sculptures by local and international artists.

Club Med, which has more than 80 resorts worldwide, is touting Club Med Guilin as its first "culture-centric" resort in Asia. While staple Club Med activities such as trapeze flying and rock climbing will be available, guests can also go on excursions to the city's scenic karst mountains and meet the minority tribes. Rates at Club Med Guilin start from $295 per adult per night, and include all meals and most activities.

Club Med Guilin is part of the resort group's plan to increase its presence in China. It opened its first ski resort there, Club Med Yabuli in Heilongjiang, in 2010, and plans to have five resorts in China by 2015.
